ENDODONTIA

During root canal treatment, we carefully remove the pulp inside of a tooth, clean, disinfect, and shape the root canal, and then place a filling to seal the space. It’s a simple procedure that will relieve tooth pain caused by infection.
OBJECTIVES
• To be able to retain a tooth inside the oral cavity which may otherwise require extraction
• Relief pain, if present
• Removal of pulp from roots of tooth
• Disinfection of root and surrounding bone by cleaning and shaping of the root canal walls
• Complete filling of root canals (obturation)
• Placement of final restoration (if not restorable, extract)
• Main contraindication: non-restorable tooth
