What do you think is an ideal age for braces?

Braces are a dental correction tool but are not age specific. The discretion and decision of when one should get braces solely lie with the dentist after thoroughly knowing the patient's case and history.
However, in general, the treatment in young children starts after they no longer have milk teeth to lose which could be between 10 to 14 years. It is advisable to start the treatment during this time for a child because the face and teeth are still in their developmental stage.
During this age, braces allow the process to be more effective as it will work on creating alignment with the new set of adult teeth.
Braces in adolescents/ teenagers are very common. Braces do a better job during these years as patients are aware that it is imperative to maintain oral hygiene, and are responsive and okay with bearing some level of discomfort. There are do's and don't's that come with braces such as brushing and keeping your teeth clean, avoiding certain foods and being regular with your dentist appointments.
A lot of adults do opt for braces later on in their lives. It all depends on the patient and the level of correction their teeth need. There are different braces available that serve different purposes. The dentist might advise you to go for a combination of two different braces as part of your treatment. For minor corrections aligners are a safe and effective option.
